🎥 Top Notch Panelists: You’ll hear from video and storytelling filmmakers as they share their expertise and experiences.

Samuel O’Connell, Coal Creative
Filmmaker Samuel O’Connell, who began his advertising career at 15, is know for producing films like “Milk Mustache” and “Siren’s Son.” Recognized as a business leader he made The Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal’s Top 20 Under 40 list in 2021 and was the Cultural Ambassador of the Year for the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce in 2020. Samuel actively serves on the boards of the Greater Wyoming Valley YMCA and the Rainbow Alliance, and pursues creative music projects with his family under the name “Noxem.”

Bill Hartin, Filmmaker
He brings a unique perspective to the art and discipline of storytelling. Bill has written two full-length feature scripts and more than a dozen short screenplays, along with countless short stories and a novel. He founded FIFO (Fade In/Fade Out) – a nonprofit Filmmaking Consortium 12 years ago, dedicated to supporting, cultivating and developing filmmaking. It has grown from less than a dozen members at the first meeting to nearly 300 today. FIFO has been instrumental in numerous film productions in the Lehigh Valley area, including CONTROL by Michael Owen; GETTING GRACE, LUCKY LOUIE and THE HAIL MARY, by Daniel Roebuck, as well as other notable productions.

Since stepping away from daily management of FIFO, Bill penned several screenplays, short stories, soundtrack songs and film treatments still in development. He is currently in pre-production for THE BEE WHISPERER, a short film being produced by a group of Canadian investors. He follows an approach he calls Holistic Measurement, weaving story, characters, plots, conflicts and outcomes into compelling and intriguing storylines.

John Mikulak, Producer, Director
John is a multi-Emmy and ADDY winning filmmaker and advertising creative. His documentary feature, The Man Who Would Be Polka King, was made into the popular Netflix dramatic feature film, The Polka King, starring Jack Black and Jenny Slate (a film John co-executive produced).

While attending NYU, he directed The Deviants – making him the first student in the school’s history to helm a feature film before graduating. This cult favorite was later released by Troma Entertainment.

John has won several awards for his documentary work, including a 2017 ADDY for Out of the Rough: The Donna Garze Story; a 2018 Emmy for War Stories: Vietnam – The Wall That Heals; a 2019 ADDY and PAB Award for Alexis Johnson: Fall…Rise…Believe; a 2020 Emmy for Mark Jury: Beyond Demons; and a 2021 ADDY for Mark Sauerhoff: Art is Not Pristine. In 2024 he won an ADDY Gold and Judge’s Choice award for his advertising directing.
